Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, the daughter of a Naval aviator,
In the mid seventies Jami traveled to Lisbon Portugal directly after the countries Carnation Revolution. The changing political environment fostered an era of entrepreneurship. Taking advantage of local resources and the welcoming arts community Jami set up her studio in Monte Estoril where she concentrated on making art. Seeking out masters in the fields of stone carving and bronze casting Jami learn from and worked alongside artisans in the country side.
She later moved to the nearby mountain town of Sintra where she worked and lived in Casa do Cipreste gaining inspiration from the homes architecture and eclectic decor that was installed by the homes creator, Architect Raul Lino.
Jami Nix was invited to hold her first solo exhibition at the American Embassy Residence, in Lisbon, which led to a long working relationship with the Eric Tannock and the Lisbon based Galeria Sesimbra. Her work was also exhibited in European galleries.
Later Jami made moves to Geneva Switzerland, Sao Paulo Brazil and then back to the U.S. all the time gaining new inspirations for her work.
Currently Nix Rahn splits her time working out of studios at the edge of the Everglades in Weston Florida and high in the Rocky Mountains in Edwards Colorado. She donates her time serving as President of the Arts Council of Greater Weston.
Nix Rahn's works have been exhibited nationally & internationally and are included in public & private collections worldwide.
